     This 2-day (6 hour) professional learning opportunity will explore the roles of school-based occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists’ in inclusion education. 

     Day 1 will consist of an opening message from Matt Sewell, Director of Special Programs, and Dr. Jeff Adams, State Systemic Improvement Plan Coordinator. Keri Huddleston, MA, CCC-SLP will provide an overview of Universal Design for Learning and relevance to related service providers. 

     Day 2 will begin with Dr. Susan Bazyk, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, providing an overview of the school-based therapist role as Specialized Instructional Support Personnel (SISP) under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Josh Hart, Director of Finance and Administration for the Office of Special Education will present on funding and use of therapists in Response to Intervention. The day will end with breakout sessions from leading experts on a variety of school-based therapy topics.

 

This is a virtual synchronous event offered at no-cost. Participants will need a computer and access to high-speed internet for both days of the training. The sessions will not be recorded. A certificate will be provided to attendees completing the post-conference survey.
