Description
The TOWK assesses a student’s skill in the reception and expression of semantics (what), or the meaning system, as opposed to syntactic (how) or pragmatic (why) systems. It consists of eight subtests, used as either core or supplementary subtests, depending of the age of the student. Level 1: Referential and Relational Aspects (for ages 5-8) includes Expressive Vocabulary, Receptive Vocabulary, Word Opposites, Word Definitions, and Synonyms (supp). Level 2: Relational and Metalinguistic Aspects (for ages 8-17) includes Word Definitions, Synonyms, Multiple Contexts, Figurative Usage, Expressive Vocabulary (supp), Receptive Vocabulary (supp), Word Opposites (supp), and Conjunctions and Transiton Words (supp).
